What we offer

At Hobart Voice & Swallow, we offer personalised assessment and intervention for adults experiencing voice, swallow or upper airway difficulties.

We are able to offer in-clinic, telehealth or in-home services for individuals. For organisations we can offer group training either in-person or online.

Our practice offers state-of-the-art, individualised voice, swallow and upper airway assessment alongside evidence based interventions targeted to assess your concern.

Our mission is to empower individuals with the tools and care they need to communicate and thrive confidently.

Voice (Dysphonia)

Issues with sound / quality of the voice or where the person’s voice does not meet their social or occupational needs.
Dysphonia can occur for a variety of reasons and usually requires an ENT assessment as part of management.

Gender Affirming Voice Therapy

This intervention helps individuals, particularly transgender and gender-diverse individuals, modify their voice and communication style to align with their gender identity, finding an authentic and comfortable voice for the individual. 

Swallowing (Dysphagia)

Dysphagia is the medical term used to describe difficulty swallowing. Swallowing is a complex act and with difficulty arising from a number of medical conditions.
People experiencing difficulty swallowing may have difficulty with food, drinks or medication.

Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction / Vocal Cord Dysfunction

A condition where the person experiences a sudden shortness of breath / throat tightness / voice change due to abnormal movement of the vocal folds.

Irritable Larynx Syndrome

Condition where the throat / larynx becomes hypersensitive resulting in a variety of abnormal throat sensations / feeling of a lump in the throat

Chronic Cough

Chronic cough describes a cough that persists for more than eight weeks and remains unresponsive to conventional medical treatments.

Susie Griffiths completed her Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons) in 2004, and Masters of Public Health in 2017 at La Trobe University.

She has worked extensively across Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart in both hospital and outpatient setting providing care for adults presenting with swallowing, upper airway and communication disorders across a variety of clinical areas.

Susie has a clinical focus on voice, upper airway and swallowing disorders. Susie is passionate about supporting individuals with voice and swallowing concerns and developing other Speech Pathologists and clinicians working in these field.

Susie concurrently holds the position of Clinical Lead – ENT Speech Pathology at the Royal Hobart Hospitals and is engaged with University training programs. Susie is also an active member of national organisations promoting the care of individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
